Research Interests My primary research interests include: 1) risk management, health, and safety operations of aquatic facilities and programs; b) lifeguard training, rescue skills and performance of aquatic personnel in aquatic emergencies; 3) water safety and drowning prevention; and 4) diversity and multicultural trends in aquatic programs.
Current Research Projects Research Assistant & Standards Writing Committee: United States Lifeguard Standards Coalition (YMCA, American Red Cross, United States Lifesaving Association)-mission is to research, identify and promote evidence-based standards for lifeguarding and water rescue. A joint collaboration between YMCA, American Red Cross, and USLA with a grant support from the National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF). (2006-present)
Past Research Projects Research Assistant: Prevalence of Youth Obesity and Associated Behaviors Among North Alabama Third-Grade Students. Principal investigator Dr. James Reid, research conducted at Alabama A&M University and presented at 81st Annual Conference of the American School Health Association, held in Honolulu, Hawaii (2007).
