T omas A. Leclerc is currently the Aquatic Division Manager for the Parks & Recreation Department with the City of Albuquerque. He was previously an Assistant Professor & the Aquatic Program Coordinator at Alabama A&M University. Tomas is the founder of Aquatic Consulting & Education Solutions specializing in aquatic training, education, leadership, collaborative research, web design and a variety of consulting services in aquatics. He is also currently pursuing his doctorate degree in Sport Administration. - Mr. Leclerc has been managing aquatic facilities for many years at both Parks & Recreation and University settings.
He developed an Academic Aquatic Concentration and co-developed a Sport Management Concentration for the Department of Health, & Physical Education at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, AL. He received his B.A. in Physical Education at University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Campus, and earned his Master of Science Degree in Sport Science with an emphasis in Aquatic Administration at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).
Highlights:- Mr. Leclerc is a Lifeguard and a Water Safety Instructor Trainer and has been a volunteer Red Cross Instructor for the past 16 years.
- In addition, Between 2004-2007 Mr. Leclerc was formerly the Chair of the Council for Aquatic Professionals (formerly known as the Aquatic Council) of AAPAR/AAHPERD.
Mr. Leclerc has conducted research in the YMCA and American Red Cross lifeguarding programs, and has subsequently presented his research at various conferences with American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, & Dance ( AAHPERD), the National Recreation & Parks Association ( N.R.P.A. ). Mr. Leclerc is an experienced aquatic safety educator and risk assessment professional with thousands of hours at aquatic facilities working for America’s leading insurance companies. - Mr. Leclerc's experience in aquatics includes water polo, competitive swimming, triathlons and employments as: waterfront lifeguard, surf-lifeguard, lifeguard, swim instructor, pool manager, assistant aquatic director, aquatic coordinator, aquatic instructor, & aquatic consultant.
Mr. Leclerc currently holds instructor trainer certifications by the American Red Cross, trainer certifications by YMCA of USA, and instructor certification by the American Safety & Health Institute.
